Frequently asked questions....
How much does it cost?
Each walk costs £10 for one dog. Walks last a minimum of one hour (though we are usually out longer). I offer a multiple discount so if you have two dogs, it's £13. For three dogs (or more), price is by arrangement.
How often do I have to commit to your service?
It can be as little as one day a week or as often as every day. I aim to be as flexible as possible to match client needs. Maybe you need one regular day every week but occasionally need more help - perhaps because of illness or extra work. I will always try to help if I can.
What days/hours are you available?
My services generally cover Monday to Friday but weekend walks are possible by arrangement. In terms of time, we can be out from early morning until late afternoon. Walks are scheduled, by agreement, on the days and at the times that suit you best.
How does payment work?
It depends on the regularity of walks. For the occasional walk, cash on the day is preferable. If it's more often, I can invoice weekly or monthly.
What are the arrangements for collecting/returning my dog?
I call at your home to pick up your dog. If you're not in, you may choose to give me key or leave one in an agreed place. I transport your dog in my van, which is fitted with a Trans-K9 crate for safety and comfort. At the end of the walk, your dog is returned to whichever room or space you instruct. If it's wet or muddy, your dog will be wiped down and towel dried. I always check access to water before leaving.
What areas are covered?
I cover Kelty, Kinross, Milnathort and Cleish. I can also cover Scotlandwell, Kinnesswood and Glenlomond, though there will be an additional cost to cover mileage.
Are dogs kept on the lead?
Initially yes, I keep new dogs on a long line so that they have freedom to roam but remain safe and under control while we establish a relationship. After a short while, it's up to you. If you're happy for your dog to be off lead and I'm confident in their recall then they have all the freedom they want to run and play! I do require written permission for your dog to be off lead as a condition of my insurance. However, if you prefer your dog to be exercised on lead, that's not a problem.
Will my dog be walked with other dogs?
I initially set up with the intention of offering a one-to-one service, but soon found that most owners prefer the group walks as they can offer a great opportunity for some play and fun socialisation. I often have my own dogs with me - but you can specify if you'd prefer your dog to be walked alone.
Do you do any training with the dogs?
I'm not a dog trainer, but walks are useful opportunity to establish and reinforce basic commands - sit, stay, come, etc. I always aim to interact fully with your dog while we're out and if there's anything you'd particularly like to work on, please let me know.
What do you do in case of an emergency?
I always carry a basic doggy first-aid kit and my mobile phone which will have a contact number for you. I will have your vet details on file but would never hesitate to seek immediate treatment from the nearest practice should it be necessary.
